their pipelines. i am confident that all the natural gas companies will recognize that this bill mandates are both the reaction to what happened here in san bruno and a fair plan for providing energy to this nation that is both safe and reliable. here's what the bill does. it requires department of transportation to set minimum safety standards within one year that would require a pipeline owners and operators to install remote or automatic shutoff valves on existing pipelines in high seismic risk areas within two years. ined in all new construction and replace pipeline. no. 2 it mandates the inspection by what are called smart. small robotic devices inspect pipelines. for another
